We will ensure that patient care remains the focus of our medical practice by maintaining an experienced staff and by keeping on the forefront of medical technology and research.Position Title: On-site Surgery SchedulerReports to: Office ManagerThis position features generous pay and benefits including a 401k and profit-sharing plan!Duties:Complete all surgery verification, authorization/precertification to improve customer satisfaction.Contacts insurance company for authorization/precertification requirement, initiate request and deliver pertinent medical records, i.e., chart notes, diagnostic imaging reports, and op notes, to expedite process; obtains patient eligibility and benefits via phone (live/automated) or online portal.Responsible for scheduling appointments if patient is being referred to a specialistResponsible for scheduling any diagnostic testingResponsible for scheduling all aspects of the patient's surgery including labs, diagnostic testing.Educates the patient on all requirements to proceed with surgery.Schedules H & P's, post op appointments for patient.Makes any necessary changes to schedules and communicates such.Confirms proper implants, hardware or specific equipment with appropriate rep.Answers calls in a prompt and efficient manner.Obtains all vital information to complete pre-authorization from insurance company.Follows up on pre-authorizations for procedures and MRIsConfirms all eligible appointments and scans all pertinent documentation to patient's chart.Notates pertinent information in the system regarding patient insurance verification/pre-certification status and patient financial responsibility.Notifies front desk staff and clinical team of any problematic insurance issue that may lead to clinic delay.Provides patient collection advice and benefit interpretations for staff and patients when necessary.Displays the highest level of customer service, attentiveness and consideration possible in all surgery casesFollows up with physician after surgery to ensure surgical fee tickets are completed.Coordinates the physician's schedules as assignedCoordinates hospital inpatient list as assignedCommunicates schedule with surgical equipment representativesComplies with HIPAA and OSHA policiesQualifications and Requirements:Ability to promote favorable facility image with physicians, patients, hospitals, other physician offices, and general publicAbility to make decisions and solve problemsAbility to triage patient care questions related to post-op, post-injury, and insurance benefitsWork effectively as a team member with physicians and other staffAppropriately interact with patients, families, and othersAbility to flexibly respond to changing demandsMust have a flexible work scheduleHigh school diploma or GED certificateExcellent typing skillsAbility to balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities.Ability to work within a team environment and to effectively contribute to patient planning.Demonstrate strong communication skills and ability to adapt communication styles to meet the needs of the specific patients and other health care team members.Knowledge of medical terminologySound judgment.Supports a respectful, team-oriented workplace.Willingness to support and encourage co-workersMedical transcription experience preferredWe are an equal opportunity employerEllis & Badenhausen Orthopaedics, PSC is an equal opportunity employer.
